Beaufort

Beaufort is a fair sized town roughly midway between Ballarat and Ararat. As such it once had a half decent yard and crossing loop. For 10 years, between 1995 and 2005, it was forlorn and neglected during the period between suspension of services after the line to Adelaide was diverted via Geelong, and when the Velocity service to Ararat was re-introduced. Our gallery shows images from between 1986 and 1990. In fact the image on the Ballarat – Ararat ‘parent’ page is a 2009 view of Beaufort from the cab of a Rail Motor.
