Canberra is not on the Bombala line – it is the terminus of its own short branch. But as the branch is so short, it’s not worth its own section. The branch line to Canberra departs the Bombala line at Queanbeyan. Construction of the line commenced in 1913, at the same time as Canberra was founded and named. A station was opened at it’s current Kingston location in 1924, with a new passenger terminal opening in 1966.
