20/9/16 – Hopefully the map issues have been resolved. Thanks for your patience!
21/6/16: Wow, has it really been five years since anything has happened here? Okay slack. Anyway, as per the blog post, we have an instagram account where we will trickle out some of the contributors photos until we get onto some more serious content additions on this site. Search for @stationspast on Instagram
13/6/11: Abandoned the public upload widget on the contribute page, in favour of having contributors images emailed to us. Reasons are on the contribute page.
1 May 2011: Found a ‘plugin’ that allows me to move comments around a bit, so I have sorted through the comments on the ‘Contact Us‘ and ‘Contribute’ pages, and moved them to their relevant pages. I am also starting to get some valuable corrects via the comments, so I will try leaving comments open on new pages for a week or so after publication.
27 March 2011. Guest contributor Geoff Winkler has uploaded a stack of his work to the site. Where stations or line sections already exist, the photos have been added to the relevant galleries. For stations not already covered, we have created his own guest contribution page. The new page also has a list of the stations that have been updated with his work.
3/3/11: You can now subscribe to receive an email alert when there is new content posted to the site. Don’t worry, I’m not interested in harvesting your email address, so if you register, your address is safe with us! A registration box can be found on all pages with the exception of the site home page (its croweded enough already) – or do it here!
25/2/11: I’ve decided to discontinue using this page to advise of changes in the form of new or changed posts, unless there are howls of protest, as recent additions appear in a sidebar ‘widget’ on the home page. There is also a feed sent to the Wheels on Steel Forum a couple of hours after a page is updated or published. This means less typing and manual linking for me! If you feel strongly enough that this page should be kept updated, leave a comment on the ‘Contact Us‘ page.
i was just wondering if you have any photos of bowden signal box and the gates it would be nice to see them as i lived a cross the road. thanks
Hi Ivan,
Sadly by the time I photographed Bowden the box had long gone, so I don’t have any personally. Hopefully soon will do the Port line, and maybe I can chase up some pictures. The idea is to have as much a complete coverage as possible of every station, and its environs.
Cheers,
David.
