Bittern

Bittern was once the junction station for the line to Red Hill. The Red Hill Line existed between 1921 and 1953. It once boasted an attractive country railway station, it now has been reduced to pebble mix ‘bus shelters’ on the platform. These would have been in existence while Davo was lurking along the line getting his photos, and therefore he did not bother. Fortunately Geoff Winkler was in the district twelve years before him, and we are fortunate to have some photos of the original building.

Vicrailstation has some more recent images of Bittern.
