Litchfield

Litchfield was one of those places dropped in the middle of nowhere for a convenient wheat siding. There was once rumblings to build a direct link to Minyip, on the Patchewollock line, to aid the movement of grain much quicker to Portland. Of course like many such schemes it all came to nothing. When visited in July 1989 the platform was still there, along with the standard portable building. By January 1990 the platform had already been removed. Today the silo’s and a small goods platform remains, however the small station, has long since gone, like many others like it that were scattered all over Victoria.
