Our guest contributor, Michael Johnston, has sent through some pictures of stations between Riverton and Burra. The line is to the north of Gawler and used to extend through to Peterborough. For now we’ll dump all his pics on this one page, and eventually do up a proper line section in the usual format.
This line reached Burra in 1870, with passenger services ceasing in December 1986. Freight operations ceased in 2005 and the line beyond Burra towards Peterborough was lifted in 1992.
Fortunately, Burra station is under restoration. For now, please visit Johnny’s pages for some history about the line and info on restoration.
