Kingaroy has been the terminus of the branch since the early ’60s. Prior to that, the line used to continue further towards the south to the town of Nanango. Kingaroy did not exist prior to the railway construction, but has become a major centre in the South Burnett region because of it. Having served its purpose, the railway is now all but abandoned.
