The Border terminus station was also a break of gauge station and goods yards, from transhipping passengers and freight between the different states rollingstock. Wallangarra station features classic station architecture from each state system, on the same building. The nearby station masters residents were also built to the typical architectural standards of the providing state.
While the NSW system is abandoned, it is still in place and very interesting to explore. The Queensland system, while still open for traffic, only sees occasional tours visit the location. The state border crosses the southern part of the platform.
Included in the gallery is a series of photos taken in 2007, which shows an over all improvement in the state of building, and some attempts at keeping the yard tidy.
