Eidsvold

A small North Burnett settlement whose population once reached 1200 during a brief period of prosperity after a major gold find in 1887. Now it’s a service centre for the surrounding beef cattle district. The railway reached here in about 1924 and was still enjoying a bit of activity in 1991, when the photos in our gallery were captured.

One Response to Eidsvold

  1. Regarding 5/11 of Eidsvold – Davo and I both have almost the same photo. What a classic broad scene as taken from the front of a real live 1720 class (not yet cut down, and in the traditional QR blue) – love the section car, camp wagon and station all in one – something that will never be repeated outside of a “set up” by a heritage railway. How cool!
