Pittsworth was the original terminus of the line, with the station opening in 1887, then known as Beauraba, until 1915. In 1909 an extension of the line towards Millmerran was approved and this section way completed by 1909. When the line was first built to Pittsworth, the settlement could hardly be described as village. However the railway greatly aided European settlement and development in the district after its arrival.
