Frampton was one of those stations located in the middle of nowhere, that once existed for the surrounding communities and farms when rail was the king of transport, and lingered on as a safeworking blockpost, and siding, for the odd less than wagon load consignment. Opened as Cungegong in 1878, the name of Frampton was bestowed in 1889. The station was unusual in the sense that the up platform was staggered northwards to the down southern, and all buildings were located as such on the down. Closed in 1975, the skillion roof station lingered on, and in 1987 only a small stub remained of the northern end of this classic NSWGR construction, photographed here.
