Ingliston

(and Bank Box Loop)

Ingliston station was a proper crossing loop, with a small station containing a signal frame, electric staff etc etc, and photos of it are very hard to find.  The station vanished in 60s? It was eventually replaced with a crossing loop at Bank Box. From a historical perspective, the focus for Ingliston is more about the passing traffic, as these scenes are unlikely to be repeated.

2002 photos of Ingliston are here. Museum Victoria have a photo from 1939 showing two (what they call) ‘gangers’ on a section trolley.

Just looked at the Ingliston page and I think you should fix up the suggestion that a station existed at the site of Bank Box Loop. Ingliston station was situated at the top of the Ingliston Bank, some considerable distance from Bank Box Loop. Mind you there was a block post at Bank Post before the loop was opened. The small hut of the block post was at 40 1/2 miles which was just on the upside of the original up end points and I can remember seeing it as a kid.

Thanks David, I’ll check that out and correct as necessary
