Donald was joined by rail to the south in 1882. For another 11 years this was the line’s terminus, until the tracks were pushed northwards. In due course, an interesting Queen Anne style building was erected out of brick, in a similar fashion to many other wooden structures around the state at this time. Passenger services ceased in 1993, which led to the station being unattended. In 2004 a long term lease was offered, however it appears no one has taken it up. Today however, the yard still sees traffic, and the large corrugated iron goods shed still stands. The station itself has all its windows boarded over, and pigeons are causing decay and destruction with their roosting. Yet again, another attractive building is slowly wasting away to a point of no return, with no seeming use to the community at present.
