The Millmerran Branch leaves the Southern Line at Wyreema and heads in a south westerly direction for 71 kilometres to its terminus. The line was opened to Pittsworth in 1887, and was largely responsible for that town prospering. It was later extended to Millmerran, opening in 1911. Between 1928 and 1969, the line had a railmotor passenger service, but the lifeblood of the branch has always been grain. The line, like many others, has suffered from the proliferation of road transport and disinterest by the state rail operator, causing passenger and most of the general freight to go to the road. Fuel was also regularly railed out to the terminus until the depot closed in 1988. .
