Kyneton

Is a magnificent double track bluestone station dating from 1862, when the line from Melbourne arrived here. Still in regular and frequent use, the station has some V/Line service terminating and stabling here, while it remains in the regular stopping pattern for most trains to or from further North.

Kyneton also featured the last remaining set of crossing gates in the state. These were decommissioned, along with the semaphore signalling and the signal box on completion of RFR works in 2006.  Some signal box images just prior to decommissioning can be found at Vicsig.net.

There are other images of Kyneton at Vicrail Stations and at Vicsig. There are some line diagrams and history available at Andrew Waugh’s VR History site.
