Gin Gin is on a now closed line that once used to run between Bundaberg and Mt Perry. The line from Tirroan to Mt Perry was closed in 1960, and from Gin Gin to Tirroan in 1991. By 1993, the line was closed right back to Bundaberg. The Gin Gin Station still exists in a Historical precinct in the town.
